Otakou est un châle triangulaire qui se tricote en top-down depuis le milieu du grand côté. On commence par un montage garter tab, c’est-à-dire par une petite bande de point mousse qui permet de démarrer proprement le châle par la bordure.
Otakou is a triangular shawl worked top-down from the middle of the larger side. You start with a garter tab cast-on. It’s a small garter stitch band which allows you to nicely begin your shawl with the edge stitches.

• Faire un jeté et le tricoter torse au rang suivant pour ne pas créer de jour.
Diminutions :
• Inclinée à droite : tricoter 2 mailles ensemble à l’endroit.
• Inclinée à gauche : Glisse Glisse Tricote (GGT) glisser une maille comme pour la tricoter à l’endroit, glisser une seconde maille comme pour la tricoter à l’endroit et tricoter ces 2 mailles ensemble par le brin arrière.

Techniques
Cast-on:
• Garter tab cast-on
Increases:
• Work a yarn over and work (knit or purl, according to pattern) it through the back loop on the next row in order to avoid a hole.
Decreases:
• Leaning on the right: knit two stitches together.
• Leaning on the left (SSK – slip slip knit): slip two stitches knitwise one at a time, pass your left needle into both front legs of these two stitches from left to right and knit them together.
